fresh strawberry daiquiri

Strawberry season may be winding down but you still have time to grab some fresh strawberries and make this Red, White and Blue Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe with Spiked Rum Crema.  With the 4th of July right around the corner, I can’t think of a more fun or festive drink to help you celebrate your independence.

Unlike the traditional Strawberry Daiquiri you order at a restaurant or local bar, this recipe calls for fresh strawberries and ditches the sugary, artificial tasting strawberry puree most bars and restaurants use.  Plus, you can avoid the dirty look the bartender gives whenever someone orders a frozen drink (trust me, bartenders hate making frozen drinks).

To make this Red, White and Blue Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe, you need a few simple ingredients.

For the Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri, you will need:

  • 6-7 Fresh Strawberries
  • 2 ounces of Silver Rum
  • 1 ounce of Lime Juice
  • 1 teaspoon of Simple Syrup OR Liquid Sugar (like Sugar in the Raw)
  • Crushed Ice
  • Fresh blueberries for garnish

Directions:  Combine the crushed ice cubes in a blender with the rum, lime juice, simple syrup/liquid sugar and strawberries until slushy.  Pour into a margarita-style glass.

For the Spiked Crema, you will need:

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • ½ cup Confectioners’ Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Silver Rum

Directions:  Beat the heavy cream with an electric hand mixer on high-speed in a chilled medium bowl until it thickens. Add the confectioners’ sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Beat in the rum until stiff peaks form.

Top the Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri with the Spiked Rum Crema and garnish with the blueberries to create the look of Red, White and Blue.  NOTE:  Both Daiquiri and Crema can be made “virgin” by omitting the alcohol.  Daiquiri recipe may need to be adjusted based on the size of the glass.

Once completed, this Red, White and Blue Fresh Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe with Spiked Rum Crema is ready to be enjoyed as you celebrate Memorial Day, 4th of July or Labor Day with your family and friends – preferably at a barbecue or sitting by the pool.  It’s fun, it’s festive and sure to get you in the celebratory spirit!

Show your Red, White and Blue and let’s get ready for a happy and safe 4th of July!
