When it comes to one of my favorite foods, cheese certainly tops that list. When it’s cold outside, I use the weather as the perfect excuse for cooking and baking with cheese. Whether it’s for the holidays or the new year, I try to find ways to incorporate cheese into as many of my recipes as possible. Today, cheese is the star of these Sausage Stuffed Jalapeños which are the perfect appetizer for a party, get together or when you want to treat yourself!
When I want to create the perfect, cheesy recipe I always head to my favorite grocery store for all of my ingredients. The good thing about this Sausage Stuffed Jalapeños recipe is that it doesn’t require a ton of ingredients, you simply need fresh jalapeños, ground sausage, onions, garlic, jarred salsa and Borden® Cheese. I found my ingredients at my local store, but check out this store locator to find Borden® Cheese near you. For this recipe I used Borden® Cheese Finely Shredded Four Cheese Mexican Shreds, but I also picked up Borden® Cheese Extra Sharp Cheddar Chunk for a future recipe.
To begin, I cooked the onions and garlic in a pan until translucent before adding the ground sausage.
While the sausage was cooking, I cut and seeded the jalapeño peppers (cutting lengthwise) and preheated my oven to 400 degrees.
Once the sausage and onions were cooked, I filled the sliced jalapeños with the cooked sausage, topped each with a half teaspoon of salsa per pepper and then covered the jalapeños with Borden® Cheese Finely Shredded Four Cheese Mexican Shreds. I baked them in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese was melted and gooey.

Notes
I love these Sausage Stuffed Jalapeños featuring Borden® Cheese because they are baked, not fried, don’t have a heavy breading coating and are filled with nothing but delicious ingredients, allowing each and every flavor to shine on its own.
With Borden® Cheese, I can transform a favorite appetizer into something a bit more elegant and certainly more delicious. What recipe can you make better with Borden® Cheese? Find your favorite Borden® Cheese at a retailer near you.
