I was invited to experience a hosted weekend at Gaylord National’s Christmas On The Potomac. This is a sponsored post in partnership with Balsam Hill and Gaylord National.
Gaylord National’s Christmas on the Potomac
Last weekend, I had the chance to visit Gaylord National to experience Christmas on the Potomac! Each year Gaylord National transforms their property into a true winter wonderland featuring seasonal shows, unique attractions and festive decor.
Gaylord National’s Christmas on the Potomac will get you in the holiday spirit! Especially, if you are feeling rather Grinchy, like me!
We began our Christmas fun at Gaylord National with a viewing of their signature show, Cirque Dreams Unwrapped.
Cirque Dreams Unwrapped
This 25-minute show includes spectacular costumes, soaring imagination, gravity defying feats and on-the-edge-of-your-seat excitement. Cirque Dreams Unwrapped combines breathtaking artistry and music – all set within Gaylord National Resort’s 19-story atrium.
After the show, we had a chance to get up close and personal with the cast and crew to talk about the show, the performances and the stage decor featuring Christmas trees from Balsam Hill.
Gaylord National’s Christmas On The Potomac is a fully immersed Christmas experience. Some of holiday activities we enjoyed include:
ICE! featuring Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
This year’s ICE! theme was Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Experience a 9-degree walk-through frozen exhibit up close. ICE! features more than 2 million pounds of ice hand carved into colorful, larger-than-life ice sculptures and 2-story tall ice slides. We walked the exhibit and watched the Grinch realize Christmas means a little bit more as the beloved classic story unfolds through interactive, hand carved ice sculptures.
Reindeer Rush Tubing
Situated right inside the Christmas Village is the Reindeer Rush Tubing. This new experience had us slide down a 2 story tall, four-lane indoor ice tubing hill.
Winter Square
New this year is the addition of a cozy outdoor space complete with twinkling lights, fire pits, and festive decorations. This Winter Wonderland includes glistening views of the Potomac and a new Tacky Christmas bar, Tinsel Tavern.
Christmas Village
Additional experiences in the Christmas Village include Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Traditions, Photo with Santa, The Village Express a Build-A-Bear Workshop and more!
Christmas Miracles Light Show
Gaylord National’s atrium comes to life during their nightly, free light show. The Christmas Miracles Light Show features laser lights, dancing water, holiday music and an indoor snowfall – all centered around the hotel’s 55 foot, suspended Starlight Christmas Tree.
Breakfast with The Grinch and Max
The Pienza Marketplace in the lower atrium is where they host Breakfast with The Grinch and Max. This interactive character breakfast includes a delicious buffet of morning favorites with Whoville inspired dishes.
Other ways to have fun at Gaylord National!
There is so much to do at Gaylord National and the surrounding area, it truly is the perfect Christmas staycation location! Some other ways to spend your time include:
- Junior Olympic-size swimming pool
- Gaylord National Resort also has its very own spa – Relâche Spa. The 20,000-square-foot facility includes 11 treatment rooms with services that range from massage, facial, body treatment, nail and foot services and a salon.
- Take the National Harbor Circulator (free with your Gaylord National resort fee) and head to Tanger Outlets, MGM National Harbor and downtown National Harbor. Just need to show your room key to ride for free.
