Are you in the mood for Summer yet? If not, this Banana Rumchata Colada will certainly help to get you in the mood.

This weekend was absolutely beautiful, so the hubby and I got a head start on our outdoor to-do list and began some weeding and also taking our patio furniture out of our of shed and setting up our outdoor living space. I tend to grill year-round but my patio was looking pretty bare with just the grill so it is nice to have everything set up and ready for warmer weather.

After working outside all day it was only natural that I reward me and the hubby with a cocktail. I had Summer on my mind so I decided to whip up a fresh, frozen drink. I’ve had some Rumchata sitting in my fridge since the holidays and I wanted to use it up. It is a heavier liquor and feels very wintery to me but I thought it would be good in either a Colada or an adult milkshake so I went with the Colada. I didn’t have any pineapple on hand so I went with a Banana Colada instead – hence the Banana Rumchata Colada.

I just loved how the Rumchata, bananas, rum and cream combined to create a rich and frothy drink.  To complete the drink I added a sliced banana, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a cherry. The Banana Rumchata Colada was the perfect beverage to end a busy day.

  1. Amazingly yummy cocktail! I used Malibu rum for the rum, and half & half for the cream. It tasted like a banana coconut smoothie! YUM!

  2. Delicious! I used the coconut milk suggestion but I got lucky and found some pineapple in the freezer. Brought it to the next level. Thanks for the great recipe, it’s going in the act!
