On Thursday, August 22, 2013 I had one of the greatest nights I have ever had in the City of Philadelphia. I, along with my husband and closest friends, attended Diner en Blanc Philadelphia and we weren’t alone. We were accompanied by nearly 2,500 other winers and diners, all dressed in white, for the annual pop-up picnic at a surprise Philadelphia location. This year’s Diner en Blanc Philadelphia location was the JFK Bridge at 30th Street Station.
You may recall my post earlier this summer about Diner en Blanc and my fear of the white. After much stressing about my dress, accessories, tables and chairs and menu, I finally felt prepared to have a fantastic time at Diner en Blanc.
My Diner en Blanc menu consisted of:
- Sriracha Deviled Eggs
- Assortment of olives and pepper shooters
- Assortment of nuts
- Cheese, fruit and pretzel crisp tray
- Balsamic Bruschetta
- Chicken Caesar Salad
- Fine Chocolates and Mini Cannolis
- Red and White Wine
To say the evening was magical would be a complete understatement. It was the perfect opportunity to catch up with so many of my other friends from the city. I had so much fun seeing everyone dressed in white, checking out the picnics and dancing in the streets. From the waving of the napkins to indicate commencement of the picnic to the celebratory lighting of the sparklers, the evening was breathtaking.
I would be remiss if I did not mention my amazing tablemates. I had a wonderful time with my husband (as always), but to also experience Diner en Blanc Philadelphia with our closest friends, Donal and Jennifer, really made the evening even more special. Javier and I feel blessed to have such great friends in our lives and Donal and Jennifer are on the top of that list. (PS: Go check out Donal’s place Serrano on South 2nd Street in Old City, Philadelphia).
A big shout out to all those responsible for putting together Diner en Blanc Philadelphia 2013. I can’t even begin to imagine how much work planning such a huge event entails. I think it is safe to say, on behalf of all those who attended Diner en Blanc Philadelphia 2013, THANK YOU!
Bravo to Diner en Blanc for a fantastic evening and cheers to many more successful events. We can’t wait to attend next year!
What a great night! I love the idea of the Siracha in Deviled Eggs. Adding a little extra kick. Congrats to all who organized the event too!
You looked so adorable & that menu sounds great! Sad we didn’t run into eachother but looks like you had a wonderful time! 🙂
