You may recall, earlier this year, I clued you in to what was happening in my life and why things were a little “off” on the blog. It was not the best start to 2017. I suffered a horrible and debilitating concussion in January of the new year. My concussion was life-changing for me and I’m not one of those people who likes to exaggerate things when it comes to health and how I’m feeling. It was the most scared I ever felt. I suffered from tremendous pain, memory loss and a change in disposition. My condition was so bad I often hid how I was feeling from my family so they wouldn’t worry about me.
My concussion, as unfortunate as it was, was also a gift and a defining moment for me as I entered the 40th year of my life. In an effort to help myself heal and try to feel better I decided to start exercising. I had been a little overweight since having my last child 8 years ago but was never inspired to take the weight off. Subconsciously I wanted to look better but didn’t have the motivation to exercise and watch my food intake.
I am probably like so many other women out there. I tend to put others needs before my own and I regularly feel overwhelmed by the daily needs and responsibilities around managing an active family. I often feel like I’m running around so much I don’t take the time to pause, put myself first and see the yes moments that are around me everyday. With the concussion I started working out regularly (taking spin classes), choosing a more vegetarian diet and taking time to truly enjoy the things that make me happy – friends, music, traveling and my kids and my pets.
It has been nine months since my concussion and I now feel better than ever. While the weight is slow to come off, my desire to be forty and fabulous is still going strong. The concussion may have derailed the start of my 40th year but it also propelled me to take control of a situation that had gotten out of control for many years.
Now, more than ever, wellness is a priority for me and for the first time in a long time I am putting my health first. Finding products that align with health goals are important now more than ever. One of those products that seems to get what I need right now are Well Yes!® soups.
