Arcadia Ale’s Jaw-Jacker Spiced Ale is the next beer in the Oktoberfest/Pumpkin Beer series of seasonal brews.
Spice is the key word here. This beer has a ton of spice flavor including cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of cloves. While not terribly pumpkin flavored, it definitely fits with the overall pumpkin beer vibe. This beer poured a deep amber despite not having any pumpkin in it at all. The pour produced little to no foam and left zero lacing on the glass.
I drank my Jaw-Jacker while eating dinner; homemade butternut squash, spinach, turkey bacon and feta pizza. It complimented the meal but in its entirety it was rather blah. There was something about this beer I didn’t like and to be honest with you, I didn’t even want to finish it. I ended up pouring 1/4 of the bottle down the drain and feeling very underwhelmed by this week’s selection.
I would love to write more about this beer but I can’t. This beer is kind of like a bad first date. You know the kind of date I am talking about. The kind where nothing horrible happened but you know there isn’t any chemistry and the relationship has zero chance of progressing. Jaw-Jacker isn’t the worst beer ever but it’s definitely not worthy of a second date.
As if you couldn’t guess this already, Arcadia Ale’s Jaw-Jacker Spiced Ale is a GGG pass.
