Malt Monday Beer Review of the Week: Narragansett Fest Lager
Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 5.5%
Price: unknown, part of $5 Mystery Brown Bag Promotion
This week’s Malt Monday beer review of the week features Narragansett Fest Lager. I stumbled upon Narragansett Fest Lager by chance as part of my local liquor store’s mystery brown bag promotion. What is the mystery brown bag promotion you ask? It’s a pretty neat idea if you ask me. My liquor store sells mystery bags of beer for $5 and you never know what you are going to get inside. When I saw it I thought, what the heck, I love a good surprise.
So, to mix up my Malt Monday posts I decided to go for it and purchased my first mystery brown bag of beer. Here’s what I got.
Now, you will see. I drew an “X” over the Budweiser because “Bud” does not exist in my world. Sorry. I can’t do it. However, for the most part, I was pretty excited about my mystery brown bag. Aside from the non-existent Budweiser and the Red Stripe (which I love!), I had never heard of or tried the others beers in the bag.
For this week, the mystery bag’s choice for Malt Monday is Narragansett Fest Lager. Narragansett, or “Gansett, is a light, easy to drink lager from Rhode Island based Narragansett Brewing Company. A beautiful peachy-colored beer, this lager poured super clear with a cloud-like foam from my 16-ounce tall boy. Each sip was smoother than the next, leaving a small hint of sweetness behind.
I have an affinity for local beers and while I am not from Rhode Island, if I was to ever visit our country’s smallest state, I would certainly order one of these again. I think it’s a great, high-quality beer at a nice, local price. Narragansett Fest Lager is definitely GGG approved!
