With all of the talk of Gwyneth’s Food Stamp Challenge and the struggles with feeding families on just $29 per week, hunger in America has taken the center stage in the media. For many, hunger is not about taking a challenge. Being poor and hungry is not an experiment but something more and more families are faced with each day.
For years, GGG has been a strong supporter of hunger-related causes and awareness. We realize how important food is to a family’s stability. From my day job in Education I have a deep understanding of how important food is to a child’s ability to learn and focus in school and how food is the difference between feeling secure and cared for. Food is one of the basics of living and something no one should ever be forced to go without.
On Thursday, April 30, 2015 I will serve as a Team Mentor for this year’s Food Bank of South Jersey Hunger Games. The Food Bank of South Jersey Hunger Games is an entertaining, fierce and LIVE cook-off that challenges some of the region’s top companies to assemble teams to compete in a friendly and spirited competition. As a team mentor I will be responsible for helping my team brainstorm, review ingredients and come up with a winning dish for the judges; solicit extra ingredients to enhance team’s dish and; guide and support my team as they cook.
Want to learn more about the event? Check out the flyer below or visit the Food Bank of South Jersey website to register to attend the event and support this great cause.
Giggles, Gobbles and Gulps is proud to serve as a Mentor for this year’s The Food Bank of South Jersey Hunger Games and help raise awareness of hunger in my immediate community.
