I was recently invited to a virtual session with Comcast + Xfinity, here is a recap of what I learned. This is a sponsored post.

If your last few months have been anything like mine, you are spending a lot of time in front of your television. Last week, I had the chance to participate in a virtual session with Comcast + Xfinity.
I learned about their latest offerings to help us during these times, provide entertainment during the holidays and quite simply, make our lives easier. Here are my five things you need to know right now about Comcast + Xfinity.

Five Things You Need to Know About Comcast + Xfinity!

1. Education:

Like parents all across the country, we are in a distance learning environment. My two middle school boys (grades 6 and 8) are 100% remote. My boys are excellent students but the challenges of remote learning are very real. In collaboration with Common Sense Media, Xfinity created an education destination for their customers that includes free resources and educational programming broken down by grade level.

Through Xfinity, my children have access to: educational series from networks and streaming services including Animal Planet, HBO, HISTORY®, Nick Jr., PBS KIDS, Prime Video and the Smithsonian Channel; firsthand interviews and historical narratives from Voices of the Civil Rights Movement; and continuing education programming such as health and fitness, reading, gardening and cooking. To take advantage of this support, Xfinity customers with X1 or Flex can just say, “Education” into their Xfinity Voice Remote.

2. Wi-Fi While at Home:

“Home” is the theme of 2020. With school, work and entertainment all happening at home, the demand for quality Wi-Fi connectivity is greater than ever. During our virtual session, Xfinity shared some helpful home Wi-Fi tips and things to keep in mind to optimize your Wi-Fi performance.

  • Location: Put your gateway router in a central location in your home, similar to a lamp on the main level of your house. Place it in an area where the signal can be reached by the devices throughout your home.
  • Maximize Your Coverage: Depending on the size of your house, you may also benefit from Wi-Fi extenders, such as Xfinity’s new second generation xFi Pods.
  • Happy Wi-Fi: Make sure your gateway is regularly updated for the latest upgrades and updates.
  • Keep Track of Connections: With everyone home now there are so many additional devices connected to our Wi-Fi. Xfinity Internet customers can monitor the devices using their home network with Xfinity xFi app.
  • Tight to be Right: Tighten cables and connections. I regularly check our cables and connections to make sure they are tight and secure. This alone has greatly improved my Wi-Fi connection.

3. COVID Commitments

Since the start of the pandemic I have been paying close attention to how businesses are responding to these challenges. I was pleased to hear about some of the ways Comcast is responding to COVID-19, such as: supporting their displaced employees with a $500 million commitment to cover wages and benefits in areas where their employees have been impacted; keeping customers connected with free internet, opening Xfinity public Wi-Fi hot spots, paused data plans; suspended disconnects and late fees; delivering more entertainment to keep people happy at home; and free virtual tools for businesses to support their transition to home. You can learn more about Comcast’s response to COVID-19 here.

4. Peacock Streaming

Did you know NBCUniversal new streaming service Peacock is the only new streamer to offer a free access to more than 13,000 hours of content? Just say “Peacock” into your X1 or Flex voice remote and gain immediate access to a library full of the best live, original and on demand programming offered by NBC, Bravo, USA Network, SYFY, Oxygen, E!, CNBC, MSNBC, NBCSN, Golf Channel, Universal Kids, A&E, ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX, HISTORY, Nickelodeon, Showtime, Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, Focus Features, Illumination, ViacomCBS, Paramount, Lionsgate, Warner Bros. and Blumhouse. Check out all that Peacock has to offer here.

5. Holiday Fun

The holidays will certainly look a little different this year. We’re skipping some of our favorite holiday traditions, so we’ll be looking for new ways to enjoy our holiday this year.

Thanks to Xfinity, you can have a little holiday fun right in your home. Just say things like,“Kids Holiday,” “Holiday Music,” “Santa Tracker,” or “Yule Log,” for some fun ways to celebrate the season. You’ll find Christmas movies, music, TV shows and Christmas specials all in one place. It is the perfect to get into the Christmas spirit!

Cheers!

Special thanks to Comcast + Xfinity for the invitation to participate in their virtual session. They sent over a fun at-home cocktail kit for a little Christmas “cheer” as part of the night. I ordered the Apres Ski Relaxer which had flavors of pineapple, spiced rum, pecan, cinnamon and nutmeg. It was the perfect cocktail to “sip and chill.”

There you have it, my Five Things You Need to Know Right Now About Comcast + Xfinity! Hope you enjoyed this post and more importantly, stay safe at home and enjoy the holiday season. Cheers!
