Dos Equis Azul Beer
Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 5.7%
It’s Cinco de Mayo and of course today’s Malt Monday Beer Review of the Week is taking on a Mexican theme with Dos Equis Azul Beer. Dos Equis Azul is part of Heineken USA’s latest line of beer offerings. Dos Equis Azul beer is a refreshing smooth balance of golden wheat with a hint of citrus and agave nectar.
This limited edition beer has a 5.7% ABV and is part of Heineken’s new line of innovative beers which includes XX Azul as well as Amstel Radler, Dos-A-Rita and two variations of Strongbow cider. These new innovations are meant to appeal to those who like the more blended beers and like to have choices outside of traditional craft beer offerings. New flavors introduced by Heineken USA include the additions of lemon juice, agave and other fruity flavors.
I had never heard of Dos Equis Azul beer and was pleasantly surprised by the beer. I am a fan of Dos Equis and found the Azul to be appealing, tasty and refreshing. Dos Equis Azul had a full-bodied feel in the mouth with a nice, light finish. I definitely tasted the citrus in the blend and tasted the sweetness of the agave, although the flavor tasted more like honey than agave to me.
Dos Equis Azul beer is a great option for Cinco de Mayo. Definitely keep an eye out for it the next time you are shopping for a different flavored beer. Today’s Malt Monday beer review is definitely GGG approved.
Happy Cinco de Mayo and Cheers! Ole!
Samples of Dos Equis Azul were provided by Heineken USA. Samples did not influence my opinion and as always, opinions are my own.
