Local New Jersey and Philadelphia folks, wondering what to do this weekend? Head on over to Atlantic City for their Do AC Boardwalk Wine Promenade Wine Festival on May 4 & 5.
On Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th from 12 pm to 5 pm each day, Atlantic City will host an amazing outdoor wine festival featuring 150 wines. The event brings together 12 Atlantic City resorts to celebrate the history, pageantry and energy of the great Atlantic City. The resorts will jointly participate in the festival at seven different destinations along the city’s famous boardwalk.
Themes for the seven wine destinations include: SUN (Atlantic Club), CHILL (Tropicana), ARTWALK, SIPS and SASHES (Borgata, Golden Nugget, Trump Plaza), BOARDWALK GAMES (Bally’s, Caesar’s, Harrahs), THRILL (Resorts) and VINTAGE to COMTEMPORARY (Showboat, Revel, Trump Taj Mahal). In addition to the wine, there will be signature tastes from AC restaurants including gourmet bites and Boardwalk fare, all of which will be paired with the wines.
Check out the map below for a visual on the seven wine destinations. As part of the wine festival, attendees will walk the famous Atlantic City boardwalk and have access to the many shops and entertainment spots on the boardwalk.
As if this event doesn’t sound good enough, my favorite Thirsty Girl, Leslie Sbrocco, will serve as the Do AC Boardwalk Wine Promenade wine festival host. You all remember Leslie from my 2012 interview, right? Leslie has designed the wine immersion experience for the Do AC Boardwalk Wine Promenade wine festival and will be appearing at various locations throughout the event.
Leslie will kick off the event with a ceremonial sabering of a bottle of champagne to kick off the event on Saturday, May 4 at 12 noon on the Boardwalk outside Bally’s. Sabrage is a ceremonial gesture dating back to the time of Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France, who celebrated victories by opening a bottle of champagne with a sabre. In Atlantic City, the sabrage signifies the opening of the Do AC Boardwalk Wine Promenade and the celebration of the nature and resilience of the beautiful, intact Atlantic City Boardwalk, which has remained open and is standing strong post Hurricane Sandy.
Tickets can be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, at www.doatlanticcity.com/wine or by calling 800-736-1420. One-day tickets are $75 in advance and $85 on the day of the event. Use code WINE and save $10 on tickets for Saturday, May 4th and $20 off for Sunday, May 5th.
Get Social: Follow along on Twitter with @VisitAC and use the hashtag #DOACWine. Visitors of the festival can also join in on the fun by tagging their photos #DOACwine on Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/doac). The best photo wins a $50 wine gift card. The first 30 Wine Promenade attendees who check in each day on Foursquare will win an exclusive DO AC wineglass.
The AC Boardwalk Wine Promenade Wine Festival is the hottest ticket in town and should not to be missed. The weather will be perfect this weekend and what better way to enjoy the outdoors than at our area’s favorite entertainment destination.
Disclosure: I was invited to attend the wine festival and will be covering the event on my blog, which includes access to certain VIP and free events.
