Never underestimate the power of a smoothie. In fact, we enjoy them daily in our house and the key to keeping them interesting is to constantly mix things up a bit – pun intended. For today’s back to school breakfast idea, I am going to share my Peanut Butter Banana Pretzel Smoothie recipe.
Last week we had a great visit from the folks at Pretzel Crisps. My boys literally waited all day, peeking out the window, waiting for the lovely Brenda from Pretzel Crisps to arrive. Imagine my boys’ excitement when Brenda arrived at our house in the Pretzel Crisps branded car filled with lots of snacks just for them. They ran out into the driveway and began checking out the Pretzel Crisps car and diving into the snacks asking Brenda about each and every flavor. “What one is this?” “Is this Sesame?” Brenda was so sweet, she literally answered every question and had a general appreciation for their inquisitive nature and enthusiasm.
In the next coming weeks, I will using the Pretzel Crisps products to come up with some tasty treats and snacks. They will be included in my boys’ lunch boxes – especially their great snack size pouches – and you may even find a bag or two in my lunch bag. But for today, we used the Pretzel Crisps as part of our morning breakfast smoothie. Yes, we actually used pretzels in our smoothie and you know what, it was delicious.
- 1 cup milk
- 1 banana, peeled
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter syrup (such as Torani, optional)
- .5 ounces of plain Pretzel Crisps (about 10-12)
- Combine all ingredients in a blender. Allow to soak for 2-3 minutes so pretzel crisps can soften. Blend until smooth and serve. Garnish with a pretzel crisp (optional).
We like to pair the Peanut Butter Banana Pretzel Smoothie with fresh fruit or a hearty whole-grain muffin or bagel. These smoothies are a big hit in my house and everyone feels like they are getting a special treat to start their day.
