On Sunday, my family and I had a chance to visit the Tuckerton Seaport and Baymens Museum in Tuckerton, New Jersey.  As a lifetime Jersey girl, I pride myself on exploring many parts of my great state,  yet I had never been to the Tuckerton Seaport and Baymens Museum.  Can I just tell you how much fun we had exploring this undiscovered gem?

The Tuckerton Seaport is located along the Tuckerton Creek, at exit 58 on the Garden State Parkway, 30 miles north of Atlantic City.  This one-of-a-kind attraction brings the Jersey Shore’s maritime traditions of the past and present to life through people, exhibits and hands-on activities.

We had the pleasure of Visiting Tuckerton Seaport and Baymens Museum during the Bluegrass and Barbecue Fest.  I mean, really, the barbecue would have been enough.  But the fun didn’t end there.  We strolled the Seaport boardwalk  and experienced life on the Tuckerton “Crik.  The boys had a blast talking to the decoy carvers, boat builders, basket makers and baymen who were on-site to entertain, educate and delight visitors of all ages (including me and my hubby).

When not listening in on some of the educational tours, we were able to walk around and enjoy some areas on our own.  I particularly enjoyed the NJ Surf Museum and checking out the view from the top of the Tucker’s Island Lighthouse.
