Are you an experienced canner? Or maybe you are new to canning, like me. Today is the day to celebrate all things canning as Jarden Home Brands will host this year’s fifth annual Can It Forward Day. Broadcasting live online at FreshPreserving.com from 11AM – 4PM EST from the new state-of-the-art Jarden Home Brands headquarters in Fishers, Indiana, Jarden Home Brands, maker of the popular Ball jars, will help canners everywhere celebrate this International Day. Philadelphia’s own canning guru, Marisa McClellan, of Food in Jars, will be one of the contributors for this year’s live broadcast.
Can It Forward Day is an event celebrating the joys of fresh preserving, Can It Forward Day encourages gardeners & food enthusiasts across the country to celebrate what “Made From Here” means to them by fresh preserving their favorite local ingredients in peak season. The webcast will have an integrated chat function where viewers can submit their home canning questions to be answered in real-time.
I’ve been using Ball jars for a long time (love them to store food and also as a travel mug or cup) but am so afraid to take the next step into the full world of canning. Can It Forward Day has inspired me to give it a try. Some of the recipes I am looking forward to trying include:
I’ve already got my beginners canning supplies on hand, including:
- Ball® Home Canning Discovery Kit
- Ball® Mason Jars – Wide Mouth (Can or Freeze)
- Mason Red Lids
- Food in Jars – Book
- Preserving by the Pint – Book
So, are you ready to get started? Join in on the Can It Forward Day conversation today, August 1, 2015 from 11 am EST to 4 pm EST on www.freshpreserving.com and let’s see if, together, you guys can help me conquer my canning fear.
