The sun is shining and you are loving the outdoors. What better way to enjoy fun in the summer sun than with this cheerfully delicious Moscato Lime Slush?

Moscato is the perfect wine to enjoy during warm temperatures.  National Moscato Day just passed on May 9th, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying this versatile wine. The fruit forward style of Moscato makes it the perfect complement for summer entertaining. You can either enjoy it on its own; pair it with spicy dishes using chilies and peppers, serve it along with different types of cheese or use it as a cocktail base to either prepare a classic or to make up one of your own. My Moscato Lime Slush is similar to a frozen margarita, but uses Gallo Family Vineyards White Moscato wine, tequila and frozen lime concentrate – making it simple to prepare and ready in minutes. Gallo_Family_Vineyards_Moscato_750ML Low REs Gallo Family Vineyards makes three deliciously sweet Moscato wines with a suggested retail price of $5 a bottle.

Moscato is the deliciously sweet wine varietal that has everyone talking. The growing interest in Moscato shows a shift in how younger generations are thinking about wine. It’s being thought of as more approachable as a younger generation breaks from the traditional wine rules and seeks out sweet and flavorful wines for enjoyment during more casual occasions.

Gallo Family Vineyards’ sweet Moscato wines are the perfect accessory for an outdoor gathering with friends or a picnic in the park and are ideal to enjoy during warm temperatures. They can be enjoyed on their own or mixed with seasonal ingredients, like I did, to make the perfect cocktail or Sangria to cool off during 4th of July and the entire summer season.

To make my Moscato Lime Slush you will need:

  • 2 cups Gallo Family Vineyards Original White Moscato
  • 12 oz. frozen lime concentrate
  • 2 oz. tequila
  • 4 cups ice cubes
  • Lime slices for garnish

This Moscato Lime Slush makes a large batch so you will need a large blender and an extra pitcher. You may also need to combine the first three ingredients together and then blend in batches with the ice in your blender until you reach the ideal consistency and texture of a slushie. 20140611_121932

To serve, pour in large glasses, or mason jars and garnish with lime slices. Add a fun, colorful straw or little paper umbrella.

Have a big party coming up and want it to be stress free?  Here’s a tip: Pre-make batches of the Moscato Lime Slush and freeze as individual sized serving in small mason jars with the lid on. About thirty minutes before your guests arrive, remove the mason jars from the freezer and place on ice. By the time your guests arrive, the Moscato Lime Slushies will be ready to enjoy and you can enjoy your time with your friends while still looking like the hostess who has it all together.
