Say goodbye to the work week because today is FRIDAY! But this Friday is a little bit more special than every other Friday because this is the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day and the start of Irish weekend. The weekend when everyone, everywhere is Irish.
I spent my college years bartending my way through school. There were a few holidays I, and my fellow bar mates, looked forward to every year and St. Patrick’s Day was certainly one of them. People would flock to my bar in search of the perfect pint of cold beer, green beer or specialty St. Patrick’s Day cocktails and shots. In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day I am delighted to share with you the Irish Goodbye beer cocktail to kick off your St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
I am sure you’ve heard of, and even participated in, a famed Irish tradition by ducking out of a party, social gathering or very bad date without bidding farewell. I have a really good friend whose husband is Irish and this is the running joke – the dude just takes off. Disappears. Poof, he’s gone. (But, he wouldn’t like this drink because he only drinks whiskey).
This St. Patty’s Day, celebrate like you’re in a Dublin pub with the Irish Goodbye beer cocktail recipe. The recipe is super, super simple.
You start by pouring a shot of Smirnoff Kissed Caramel vodka and filling a pint glass with hard cider about half way.
You then Drop a .75oz. shot of Smirnoff Kissed Caramel vodka into an 8oz. glass of hard apple cider.
Hold onto your shamrocks (and your manners), and slam (or chug) this Irish Goodbye beer cocktail in one big sip.
You know I love my beer, and I love a good cocktail, so what can be better than a beer cocktail that tastes just like a caramel apple? Oh my YUM!
Give this one a try and let me know what you think. Cheers!
Samples were provided by Smirnoff and Angry Orchard to facilitate this post. As always, opinions are my own.
