Can I get a high 5? We’ve made it through another week. There’s no better way to celebrate the weekend than with a fresh cocktail in hand. My latest love is a wonderfully tart Grapefruit Coconut Mojito. 

My friends at Captain Morgan recently sent over some of their newest rum flavors for me to try. The Captain Morgan Rum Company has introduced three flavors to its fleet— CAPTAIN MORGAN® Pineapple Rum, Coconut Rum, and Grapefruit Rum. Crafted from the sparkling waters of the Caribbean, these new flavors are five times distilled and made with fine cane molasses.

For this Grapefruit Coconut Mojito I couldn’t wait to try the CAPTAIN MORGAN® Grapefruit Rum. I’ve had various brands of Coconut Rum and Pineapple Rums before but have never had Grapefruit Rum. I thought it would be perfect combined as a mojito with coconut and mint flavors.

Grapefruit Coconut Mojito

This Grapefruit Coconut Mojito isn’t your typical mojito recipe. In true GGG fashion, this recipe has two liquors, coconut water and a splash of sparkling grapefruit soda for a fun twist on a traditional cocktail. I just love how bright and cheery it looks and I am complete sucker for coconut flavors and anything mint. Fresh mint is so divine and adds such wonderful flavor to this cocktail.

Grapefruit and Coconut Mojito

A delicious variation to the traditional mojito

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces Grapefruit Rum
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • splash of Coconut Rum
  • 2 ounces pink grapefruit juice
  • 3 ounces coconut water
  • small bunch of mint leaves
  • splash of sparkling grapefruit soda

Instructions

  • Combine Grapefruit Rum, simple syrup, Coconut Rum, grapefruit juice and Coconut Water in cocktail shaker. Shake to combine. Place mint leaves in bottom of collins glass and muddle. Top with crushed ice. Pour mixture over ice. Top with a splash of grapefruit soda and garnish with a grapefruit wedge and mint leaves.

Sold at a suggested retail price of $15.99 for a 750 mL bottle, each variant blends Captain Morgan White Rum with natural flavors, making them perfect for simple cocktails, along with more complex, Caribbean-inspired drinks. I am certain these Captain Morgan Rums will be making their way into even more GGG cocktail recipes so stay tuned for that.
