I confess. I’m the queen of kitchen gadgets and a sucker for “As Seen on TV” products.  So, imagine my excitement as I was strolling my local discount retail store and stumbled upon the Perfect Fries Natural Cut French Fry Cutter.  I am certain I have seen this on television and been hypnotized by an infomercial or two.  I knew I had to buy it (a steal at $6.99) and make Garlic Fries when I got home.

With great excitement, I opened my handy little gadget and went to work preparing my Garlic Fries.

My new kitchen gadget!
My new kitchen gadget!

I have to admit, my new gadget did not disappoint.  Within seconds I had gorgeous, perfectly cut natural fries.  I was impressed.

I then proceeded to fry up my freshly cut fries to serve as the base to my Garlic Fries.  Since the fries were cut perfectly even, they cooked within minutes and were done in no time.

Once all potatoes were fried up, I the began to build the flavors for the Garlic Fries.  I placed all of the ingredients in the bowl and tossed to coat.

The result?  A great big serving of garlicky goodness.  You definitely have to like garlic to enjoy this recipe.  Vampires beware.  And, maybe this recipe is not a good choice for a first date.

Garlic Fries are most famous in San Francisco and are a popular treat at the ballpark.  Where I’m from, french fries come in all forms.  We have Crab Fries (seasoned with crab seasoning), Gravy Fries (also known as Poutine), Boardwalk Fries, Cheese Fries and Chili-Cheese Fries.

What’s the most interesting french fry combination you’ve seen?  While you are at it, why not share your favorite kitchen gadget.  Have you ever purchased an “As Seen on TV” product and did it work?  Tell me, I want to know.

  1. One of my favorite new gadgets is a julienne peeler. It is perfect for created slaw or a pretty garnish – especially if you can get your hands on some heirloom carrots in shades of purple, white, yellow and orange.
