Heart Health Month is coming to an end. As the month ends, it’s important to think about ways to sustain the healthy heart lessons we learned during the month and stay on the right track. A super secret weapon of mine are fruit smoothies. This Cherry Berry Smoothie is one of the best smoothie recipes I’ve ever tasted.
According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, the leading cause of death in America is heart disease. Eating healthy is an important step that can decrease your risk, especially when the winter blues slow you down. Fresh & frozen produce, including a wide selection of organics & the BJ’s exclusive Wellsley Farms (WF) brand, are a wonderful source of heart healthy nutrition.
For the Cherry Berry Smoothie, you quickly combine frozen strawberries, frozen cherries, yogurt and milk in a blender and blend until smooth.
So simple and tart, with an underlying tone of natural sweetness. And the color, what’s not to love.
Did you know that the color of the fruit plays an important role in identifying the types of vitamins and nutrients present in each fruit or vegetable. When trying to make heart healthy choices, consider stocking your cart with red, pink and purple produce like strawberries, cherries, cranberries, peppers, purple grapes, pomegranates and beets.
This wonderful infographic, courtesy of BJ’s Wholesale Club, not only includes delicious healthy heart facts but additional recipes on ways to incorporate more produce into your diet.
