In honor of tonight’s season finale of the Real Housewives of Orange County, and my undying love for all things “Housewives” related, I bring to you my sipping notes from my recent “Wines by Wives” review. Any loyal Housewives fan will remember Tamra Barney and Vicki Gunvelson starting Wines by Wives and how their concept began.
This season, Wines by Wives played a large role in the season from the the cast’s visit to Malibu, Tamra’s headlining a speech at a women in business/ empowerment conference or the scene from Tamra and Vicki’s office where they both unveil their latest Wines by Wives branded wines, “Too Good to Throw” and “Work Hard, Play Harder.” You can even spot a glimpse of their flagship wine in this shot of Tamra and Eddie.
For my Wines by Wives review I had the chance to sample their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines. Both wines have a retail value of $14.95 and can be purchased separately (without a monthly wine club membership) from the Wines by Wives wine store which is available on their website. My wines came packaged together along with headshot-style postcards featuring Tamra, Vicki and other reality-TV figures from shows like the Real Housewives of Miami, MobWives and Jerseyliscious.
When it came time to sip the wine, I started with the Wines by Wives Cabernet Sauvignon. I actually brought this bottle over to my friends’ house to sip and help me with the review. I have to tell you, the Wines by Wives Cabernet Sauvignon was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised. My friends even asked me several times about the wine were shocked when I told them it was the “Housewives” wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon was smooth and easy to drink, complete with rich, deep fruity flavors. For the Wines by Wives Chardonnay, I sipped this selection a home with the hubby. The Chardonnay was very light, had hints of lemon and florals and was crisp and refreshing.
Here I am posing with my wine and the ladies of Wines by Wives (hey, a girl’s gotta have some fun).
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Wines by Wives wines. I liked the idea of being able to purchase some of their wines on their own, without joining the wine club. For those who are interested in the monthly wine club, there are three options: a basic 1-month plan for $39.90 plus s/h; a 3-month plan for $97.90 plus s/h and; a 1-year option for $377.95 plus s/h.
For tonight’s season finale, I will be cuddled on my couch sipping the rest of my Wines by Wives wine. I can’t wait to see how this season ends and of course, the reunion.
SHOUT OUT: Want to make sure you are up-to-date on all things Housewives before the finale? I’d be remiss if I didn’t encourage you to check out The Naughty Mommy for a full recap of the season. My girl, Lindsey, from The Naughty Mommy dishes on several reality television shows including several of the Housewives franchises and The Bachelorette. It makes for a great read – Lindsey has some pretty funny recaps on her site. Go check her out and tell her GGG sent you.
